Kang Daniel’s debut album has set a new sales record for solo artists.
The physical copy of his album “Color on Me” was released on July 29 in just three days, it has sold 404,896 units, according to Hanteo music chart, which tracks sales.
With this, Kang Daniel has achieved a new record for the highest first-week album sales of all time for solo artists. His album earlier set the record for the highest one-day sale for solo artists with 342,218 copies.
Hanteo said “Color on Me” has placed No. 2 in first-week sales of all albums released in South Korea in 2019. It said considering that solo artists usually have lower album sales than groups, what “Color on Me” has achieved due to “Kang Daniel’s power.”
The album has achieved pre-orders of 450,000 copies before it was released in digital form last July 25 and physical copy on July 29. It also topped iTunes Top Albums chart in at least 16 countries including the Philippines.
In addition, the music video for the carrier single “What Are You Up To” has racked up 8.7 million views on YouTube as of writing since it was released on July 25.
Kang Daniel held fan signing events in Gwangju and Daejeon in South Korea on July 31 to be followed by Busan and Daegu on Aug. 1 and Seoul on Aug. 3.
