There’s more to Jo Koy than what people hear when he’s on stage.
Apart from being a funny guy, this Filipino-American standup comic has soft spot for workers in the Philippine movie industry.
After the awarding of plaques to the new Eastwood Walk of Fame inductees, Federico Moreno, president of the German Moreno Walk of Fame Philippines, revealed that Jo Koy donated two million pesos to the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Inc.
Also known as Mowelfund, it is a non-stock, non-profit social welfare, educational and industry development foundation established in 1974 by former president and manila mayor Joseph Estrada. It provides for the welfare of workers in the film industry, including hospitalization, surgery, medical fees and death benefits, and helps with housing and employment.
Jo Koy is in the country for a series of shows as part of his “Just Kidding” world tour.
