Ricky Reyes personally prepared the equipment needed for his Gandang Ricky Reyes (GRR) Salon to be compliant with measures set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
This happened few days before salons and barbershops were allowed to open. On May 24, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez together with Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr., Chief Implementor of the Philippines’ Declared National Policy against COVID-19, conducted an inspection of the GRR Salon at SM Mall of Asia. Ricky demonstrated to them the safety procedures in handling clients and the restructured workflow inside the salon, in compliance with IATF protocols.
In the end, the president of the Filipino Hairdressers Association (FilHair) is confident the GRR salons, which has outlets mostly inside SM malls, could be a model for the new normal in salon operation.
“Our 10-seater work area is now reconfigured to a 5-seater to ensure social distancing, reducing our capacity by 50%. In order to avoid overcrowding, our customers are advised to call for an appointment prior to their visit,” Ricky added.
Among other precautionary measures, each staff has his own Personal Protective Equipment such as face mask, face shield, goggles, disposable gowns, hand gloves and shoe covers.
“All the works to prevent possible infections,” Ricky said.
