Frankie Pangilinan seems to be following in the footsteps of her mom, Sharon Cuneta, when it comes to singing.
The “mega daughter” just released her debut single, produced by no less than Ely Bundia of Offshore Records.
The 18-year-old used the name Kakie for her song called “TYL (True Young Lovers).”
Being able to work with the former Eraserheads vocalists is a dream come true for her.
Sharing a photo of them on Instagram, Frankie wrote: “(T)his man has been my absolute hero for years now. (I) know pretty much every (E)raserheads song by heart (cutterpillow is and always will be my favorite album maybe tied w circus right now that (I)’ve had that on repeat for a while again), and when (I) heard there was a chance (I) might work with him (I) burst into tears of joy. (I) never ever thought that (I)’d get the privilege of working with someone (I)’ve looked up to for so long (I don’t think he knows how much I love him tbh I was a nervous wreck in the studio and was shaking the whole time (I) didn’t think (I)’d be able to sing.”
She also shared the back story of her single.
“(I) wrote tyl sometime last year, and though the finished sound is not something (I) ever thought (I)’d delve into, only (E)ly (B)uendia could ever convince me to go that far out of my comfort zone and do something different. (T)he original was slower, rawer, and he brought out this power in it that (I) cant quite explain. (I)t sounds so unapologetically genuine and (I)’m beyond excited for you to hear it,” she said.
Of course, Sharon is one proud mom.
She said: “Kakie’s first major single, “TYL” (true young lovers) -produced by the one and only Ely Buendia who also plays the guitar on it(!) – is now on Spotify!!! Just search “tyl kakie” and enjoy listening!!! Thanks, everyone!!!”
