De Lima said that DHSUD was given only a budget of P4 billion for 2021 despite the current huge housing backlog compared to the P9.6-billion intelligence fund of the Duterte administration and a lump sum of P19.3 billion for the anti-communist task force.

‘’There is something terribly wrong with this budget allocation and it is screaming at our face,’’ De Lima said.

“On this fifth budget year of the Duterte administration, the housing appropriation for the poor sector of society is getting smaller. But the administration’s intelligence funds are getting bigger,” she added.

‘’The poor suffer the heaviest beating from both man-made and natural disasters and now the economic downturn. Job and housing are the poor’s best social protection even before the pandemic and more especially now. And where is the protection here?’’ De Lima said.

The priority of a good father is that there is food on the table for his family. He puts up a house with a good foundation that can withstand crises and calamities, De Lima added.
