Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo, acting commander of 2nd Nocpmfc, said they have initiated Project T.U.T.O.R. in the province, to ease the burden of parents, who have no enough time to teach their children at home because of their work to support the family.

TUTOR project means “Talakayan at Ugnayan Tungo sa Edukasyon sa bagong nORmal,” which aims to encourage children to invest on education despite facing difficulties brought about by the health crisis.

It started on October 5 when classes began nationwide, wherein students were engaged in distance learning in lieu of the face-to-face interaction.

Manongdo said that five elementary pupils from Barangay Dulao in Bago City and Barangay Gargato in Hinigaran town were selected based on the background of their families.

The children go to the camp or headquarters of the Nocpmfc where they are assigned a policeman for every pupil who will help the children answer their learning modules.

“Malalaman nila na ang pulis ay willing na mag assist at magturo din sa kanila,”

Manongdo said.

The tutor is usually being conducted for two hours, he said. Proper health protocols are observed before the tutorial.

Manongdo said they cannot entertain everyone, that’s why those who they think really need assistance were selected.

Through the project, Manongdo said the police can inspire children to give importance to education.

He said that parents were happy about it because the police were there to supplement in teaching their children.
