Nine 5-point stars in granite blocks were unveiled Jan. 12 at the Eastwood Central Plaza to recognize personalities who have contributed significantly to the fields of TV, movies, music, news and public affairs, radio, theater and social media.
No less than Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, seasoned actor Edu Manzano, singer and international musical theater actress Rachelle Ann Go led the honor roll. Also on the list are TV host Kim Atienza, Filipino-comedian Jon Koy, comedian Nanette Inventor, journalist Jiggy Manicad, program anchor Jun Banaag, and social media darling Alex Gonzaga.
Now on its 14th year, the Eastwood City Walk of Fame was pioneered in 2005 by the late German “Kuya Germs” Moreno. The inductees are chosen by a board of trustees.
“By recognizing these individuals who have been pivotal in keeping the entertainment scene alive, we are also honouring my father’s legacy and his dedication to the industry,” Federico Moreno, president of German Moreno Walk of Fame Philippines, and the son of Kuya Germs, was quoted to have said in a statement.
Since the award’s inception, a total of 345 celebrities and personalities have been awarded with their own stars at the Walk of Fame. Apart from recognitions, Eastwood City Walk of Fame is committed to supporting the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, or MOWELFUND, an organization that provides for the welfare of the workers in the film industry.
