Filipina Catriona Gray highlighted women’s power to “redefine” a generation in her final speech as Miss Universe.
“I’ve always believed that, as women, we have the power to redefine our generation. When we raise our voices together the words ‘women power’ becomes more than just a phrase, they become a movement,” Gray said as she took her final walk as Miss Universe.
Gray, the Philippine’s fourth Miss Universe titleholder, also encouraged everyone to keep chasing their dreams.
“To everyone with a dream, know that your dreams are valid and on your path, you are never denied, only redirected,” she said.
An emotional Gray then thanked her parents, the Miss Universe Organization, and her fellow Filipinos for their support and love.
“To my beloved Philippines, isang karangalan po ito. You endlessly inspire me and give me hope. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat,” she said.
Gray passed on the Miss Universe crown to South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi on December 8 (December 9, Manila time) at at the Tyler Perry Studios, Atlanta, Georgia, US.
