After months of preparation, director Jerold Tarog has begun shooting the much-anticipated superhero film “Darna.”

He posted a photo online of Darna funko pop on set over the weekend. With himself in the background, he wrote: “Day 1.”

It was in 2018 when Tarog replaced Erik Matti as “Darna” director. The latter cited “creative differences” as reason he left the Star Cinema-backed project.

“Darna” is the debut film of Jane de Leon, who was cast after Liza Soberano bailed out of the project due to an injury.

Since November last year, the young actress has been updating her followers with her preparations for the iconic role.

She regularly visits the gyms so she could be fit and strong. In past interviews, she described her workout routines as “sobrang hirap.”

But living up to Darna’s attitude, the catchword of Jane is “Laban lang nang laban.”
