At no other time is it more important for neighbours to help each other than in the midst of a crisis. At a residential condominium community in Quezon City, the community spirit is alive and well, thanks to the enthusiastic response of residents and the support of the condominium developer.

Condominium unit owners at Larossa by Primehomes Capitol Hills came together last Sept. 19 at a community weekend market called HEY Neighbour! Held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the event became a venue for unit owners to not just earn extra income from selling to neighbours and visitors, but also an opportunity for the Larossa community to come and safely socialize with one another.

Larossa is the first phase in the urban botanical and green community development of Primehomes in Capitol Hills, Quezon City. Designed as a walkable, environment-friendly development, Larossa is a three-building phase in the community. As of today, there are already more than 100 units that welcomed their owners, spread out across the three buildings of the Larossa, namely Camia, Sampaguita, and Magnolia.

From its very conception, Larossa was meant to encourage unit owners to not just be people sharing a common address, but neighbours who interact in the many pocket parks, recreation areas, and lushly landscaped paths winding through the entire development. The HEY Neighbour! weekend market was the perfect opportunity for residents to come out and enjoy each others’ company, not to mention showcase their cooking skills and the specialties from their respective provinces.

Participating unit owners brought home-cooked meals such as Sushi baked pink salmon and Chicken cordon bleu; regional favorites like coffee beans from Benguet and boneless bangus from Pangasinan; and snackable treats such as cassava cake and various dimsum. Some booths also featured market essentials such as fruits and vegetables, along with pantry staples like fresh eggs and meat products, while some addressed the current need by selling face shields, face masks, and alcohol sanitizers. Home cooks came out with their specialty dishes, selling their versions of Creamy pastel de lengua and Embotido, and hometown specialties like Bulacan chicharon and Vigan longganisa.

The event organizers from Primehomes’ marketing department said that HEY Neighbour! aims to help strengthen the young community even in the midst of a global health crisis.

“We really wanted an avenue for our unit owners to have the opportunity to both highlight the products they make and have additional income. And this weekend market is by far the best way we make it possible,” said Edjames Larion, assistant brand marketing manager of Primehomes.

In addition to creating a bonding event for the Larossa residents, the organizers also made sure that proper health protocols were followed. There were physical distancing guides clearly marking where shoppers are to stand, a hand sanitizing station with soap and running water and alcohol disinfectant, temperature checks at the entrance areas, as well as a registration system to facilitate contact tracing.

HEY Neighbour! promises to be only the beginning of other community-building projects at Larossa. Primehomes, the developer behind Larossa, said that it aims to further strengthen the connections between unit owners by playing an active part in building a thriving community where neighbours look after one another.

Larossa is Primehomes Real Estate Development’s first phase in the urban botanical residential development in one of Quezon City’s premier residential enclave address, Capitol Hills Drive. It boasts of lush greens, open spaces and immediate access to the city’s top universities, major lifestyle hubs, and business districts. Its efficient use of space and sustainable living areas are designed to enhance the healthy and active lifestyle of people living in it.
