A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Sur early Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The earthquake, which occurred at 6:37 a.m., was tectonic in origin and was traced 11 kilometers northwest of San Agustin, Surigao del Sur.
The quake had a depth of 58 km, with the following registered intensities: Intensity V- Bislig City
Phivolcs said the quake was also felt under the following instrumental intensities: Intensity IV- Bislig City; Intensity III- Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental; Intensity II- Cagayan de Oro City; Surigao City, Surigao del Norte; Intensity I- Alabel, Sarangani; Koronadal, Tupi, South Cotabato; Kidapawan City; Palo, Leyte; Borongan City
Phivolcs warned that damage and aftershocks are expected.
