Eighteen candidates will compete in the revived Miss Bikini Philippines 2019 beauty pageant which will be held at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Theater at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City on Nov. 28.
This year’s official candidates are: Jenelyn Quiambao, Famela Rose Santos, Lezel Cabahug, Louise Theunis, Ma. Edgee Enriquez, Iana Faye Marie Olea, Jewel Alexei Image, Jessarie Dumaguing, Melba Ann Cara Macasaet, Julie Ann Tarrayo, Roberta Angela Tamondong, Shanon Jumaylh Tampon, Kim Velasco, Michelle Amne Gianan, Reina Kobayashi, Jell Roses Duga, Mary Camille Llorente and Jamela Diamante.
At the press preview held at Presidio Lakefront in Muntinlupa City Tuesday night, Dumaguing and Tamondong tied in first place for Darling of the Press special award. Tampon was 1st runner-up.
With the tagline “Strong is Beautiful,” the winner of Miss Bikini Philippines 2019 will receive P300,000 cash and other prizes. First runner-up will get P200,000 cash and other prizes; and Second runner-up, P100,000 cash and other prizes.
For the past two years, there were no Miss Bikini Philippines pageant that were held. This year it returns under the helm of Pro Media.
The same bikini contest launched the pageant journeys of popular beauty queens Janicel Lubina and Gazini Ganados who will be the country’s representative to the 2019 Miss Universe pageant in Atlanta, Georgia.
“We have decided to launch these ladies’ careers. We have intentions to bring them to an international stage after this national event,” said Lahaina Mondonedo, the pageant’s national director.
Miss Earth 2018 Nguyen Phuong Khanh will be one of the judges for Miss Bikini Philippines 2019 pageant.
“We are not only looking for a girl who advocates beauty and brains but health and wealth as well,” said Nguyen during a recent interview.
The Vietnamese beauty queen added: “The candidates should be slim and fit because for Miss Bikini Philippines, strong is beautiful.”
